I come from a long line High and low and in between Same as you Hills of golden Hails of poison Times thrown me through And I believe I've come to learn That trunin' round Is to become confusion And the golds no good for spending And the poison's hungry waiting Townes Van Zandt- 'High Low and In Between' |

| A West Virginia native, John Bolten is an avid songwriter and steward of the Appalachian condition. His interests in music stem from studying traditional styles of storytelling through music, and discovering innovative songwriting within the many expressive styles that are being created today. John has been referred to as "a songwriter's songwriter", and has sporadically been performing in SC and the DC area for the past five years. He sang, played banjo and guitar for the Columbia, SC groups The Plowboys and Drifter Stills, as well as Virginia's Whiskey Darlings. John continues to passionately listen, observe, and create by "walking through the ghosts and telling their stories". He plans to record his first album in Fall, 2008. |
